Will the person on the microphone at my event be a total stranger?

No. When you book with The Sound Solution – you will know exactly who your DJ/Entertainer is from the very beginning.

We will recommend an entertainer to you as soon as we know what type of event you have in mind as our team members all have individual specialized knowledge in various types of music and presentation styles.

We prefer that you meet with your prospective DJ/Entertainer prior to booking with our team. Your peace of mind is important. You should be completely comfortable with the person who is responsible for the music at your event. We encourage making a personal connection with your entertainer.

When do you arrive at the event?

Our estimated arrival time is confirmed on your contract for your peace of mind. We would rather be 4 hours early – than 2 seconds late.

Our policy is to be completely music ready within the playing area, before the arrival of your first guests.

Depending on the technical complexity of your event, we will arrive a minimum of 90 minutes prior to our agreed start time.

How current is your music collection? How large is your music library?

We carry original recordings going back to January 1932. Our collection covers everything from your traditional styles of dance music – waltzes, polkas, tangos, foxtrots, cha-cha’s etc. – to music that is so fresh – you probably won’t hear it on the radio for another month.

Even our most basic service offers a collection large enough to play the dance portion of your event over 200 times, without duplicating a song.

As members of Canada’s top professional music pools, we receive special Compact Discs containing the top hits on the radio, every two weeks. The first issue was released in June 1993 – and we have every disc they have ever released with us at every occasion.

This music system breaks down into 522 separate musical categories based upon style, tempo and the country of origin. Under normal circumstances, we can have a request ready to play within 15- 30 seconds.

Do you play requests? What is your request policy?

YES! We specialize in requests!

Remember, "Reading the Crowd" is simply an understanding of audience demographics.

No one knows more about what your guests want to hear than your guests!

Our experience has taught us that you can’t guess what is going to motivate your audience.

Through our pre-event planning process, our on-line music request system and requests received from the audience at the occasion through our Dance Music Suggestions system, we gather the right information to ensure we are playing the right music.

We suggest the following 4 guidelines regarding requests.

1. All songs must be danceable. Songs with an irregular tempo should not be played during the dance portion of the event.

2. All songs should be easily recognizable by the majority of your guests. As a rule of thumb, people will stay on the dance floor for only 8 beats of a song before they leave if they don't know the song.

3. Any song that has the potential of embarrassing the guests of honour will not be played. We won't change your first song at your wedding to "Another one bites the dust" just because someone thought it would be funny.

4. All songs during the evening must be in good taste and appropriate for the event. Any song containing vulgar language will not air. We often have the “clean/radio” versions of many titles available.

I.E. a "Heavy Metal" song request won't happen at your "Big Band" gala - or vice versa.

Do you play same-sex weddings?

We play celebrations for everyone, without exception.

Can I watch my prospective DJ perform at an event?

Yes. However, as the majority of the events we play are private functions, we will only allow this to happen if we have received permission from the hosts of the event first.

We would never have anyone arrive at your event without your prior permission.

We will only arrange the above after you have had the opportunity to meet with your prospective DJ/Entertainer.

Also keep in mind that every event we play is different and our music and presentation is customized to the preferences of our clients’ tastes.

Remember, out of respect for our existing clients, our DJ/Entertainers first responsibility is the event they are playing.

Their time belongs to the hosts of the event, as it will be at your event.
